Based on the other thread, it sounds like they found a scoring error. Would that be accurate or speculation?

Yeah, I was taling to Mark Born on Saturday night and evidently there is some sort of bug in the proprietary KCBS scoring software, where every once in awhile it will score people all zeros even if you entered everything in correctly. They are working to get it fixed. At this comp there were I think twelve teams in pork this happened to, and with the rush to get the results in so everyone could go home, they did not catch it until it was too late. Really sucks for all the people who got there names called, but now have to send their money back, but it was an honest mistake, and now it is important for KCBS to take the time to get things right. Hopefully they will also be able to find that bug in the program sooner than later so this doesn't happen again.

Happy to hear this affected you in a positive way Ray and sorry it affected you in a negative way WineSwine. I'm sorry I wasn't able to make it up to hang out. I was sicker than a dog all weekend, and we were a man down and about a mile away from everyone else. Anyway, next time...

Btw--WineSwine saw you walk for your pork and I have to say I thought your hockey jersey with your logo on it was downright baddass!! :):)

I am sorry to hear of the problems at MN in May. From the preliminary reports it appear to be simple human error. The software has been used at over 1000 contests. We have found that each time there is a situation it was as a result of all us being human and under a time constraint to get results done timely. The program has the ability to identify such errors as the errors which appear to have occurred at this contest.

In addition, KCBS does have a audit policy and this contest will be sent to Linda for verification.

It is great to have members who understand we can all make a mistake. We appreciate the support of the contest as well as KCBS.

I am waiting to hear an official explaination from Perry, BUT from my score sheet, even if the Heat is On got a perfect 36 on their entry that was listed as 0, I still come out .5716 or something like that ahead of them in pork assuming my scores are all correct. I guess until they can tell me my scores and Mark's scores then we have to take their word, but I personally want to know what the scores were, then I will be satisfied.

I think I heard him say that if things got fixed he would move up to second place, but I guess that was wrong...

From the preliminary reports it appear to be simple human error. The software has been used at over 1000 contests. We have found that each time there is a situation it was as a result of all us being human and under a time constraint to get results done timely. The program has the ability to identify such errors as the errors which appear to have occurred at this contest. In addition, KCBS does have a audit policy and this contest will be sent to Linda for verification. It is great to have members who understand we can all make a mistake.
