Default Another 1st UDS cook WOW!

Had my maiden voyage last night (pork butt) and I was amazed. It rocked for 13 hrs solid with slight temp fluctuations but nothing major. I contribute the slight temp changes to my rookie status with the UDS and the fact I was asleep during most of the cook but it chugged right along all night. I didn't reinvent the wheel when I built it and used the guidlines the one's in the know have laid out for us, thank's to all that have done the homework for us. I did throw in a couple of slight variances. Using Weber top and when I closed it up after the cook it shut down within 45min (no leaks) with quit a bit of charcoal left. Daughter has camera and will do some pics when I can as I know it's flipp'n worthless without pron . These UDS's are awesome should be a good summer. Do have a question thou, do you think my ECB would make a good flower pot?

Hey that's really nice Digi I'm out of town alot but let me make sure I'll be in town and if I am I'll definately go to new braunfels and meet you. And I'd surely pay you for your troubles. Hell I might even throw some beer for your ice chest while you're tubing. God forbid you get thirsty on the river! You're going to love it. It's really great tubing there. See there are nice people in the world and they're all on this forum.

Wow, brave move there with a maiden all-nighter... nice move! I'm glad everything worked out and I'm looking forward to the pics.

You're gonna love the UDS more each time you use it... and I'm sure you're already planning your next one. I am. :)

Just remember with duct tape all things are possible. Although be careful because submerged air intakes don't work quite as well... Scuba mod.

IF you have two racks in it throw a pan of beans in the middle of the bottom rack and the meat on the top. Lengthens the cook time some (still well within a basket load) but well worth it.
