Default Mardi Gras Steak Night

With about 300,000 people downtown at the parades, I figured I would just stay home and cook. My normal butcher was closed so I stopped by Fresh Market. Got two pretty nice Hereford strips for the wife and daughter and Black Angus ribeye for me. SPG on theirs and mine had a combo of DP Cowlick and Raing the Steaks. For a lean cut of meat those Hereford strips were delicious. ( I ate my daughter's 1/2 she didin't finish )



I even broke out the fine china for the occasion...

I know, I forgot the money shot. Not much pink on the women folk's steaks. I have to cook theirs medium well. Mine was a perfect medium rare though.

One thing I thought was strange on the strips though. I tented them and let them rest. Even though they were cooked more, the juice that was on the plate was a pink as it could be. Made me wonder if the meat had dye in it.

I don't mind the weeknight parades, but Mardi Gras day - Forget it. My brother rides in 2 parades and my mother rides in 1. I have some pictures that I'll post in the woodpile later if I get a chance.
