ya, I see what your saying, but it always seems with weber you pay for the name...I would just find it hard to belive that there isn't an off brand or something else...I just can't find it.

there are off brands and I think they are cheap. Bought one and doubt if I ever use it.

I couldn't disagree more. I've bought knockoff stuff in the past and always regret not buying a Weber.

If you look at most of the pics there is alway unburnt charcoal around the sides. I have make a few UDS's and tried this out, make your basket a little cone shaped. All charcoal then feed into its self. I tried it and it works pretty well.

That $20.00 dollar model has the lift up doors.
They also sell a 22.5" Weber grate without the doors for about $12.-14 dollars.
You don't need the doors with a UDS.

Doesn't matter for the charcoal grates, but the non-weber replacement grates I have found are too small.
