Default To score or Not to score

I making two 7 lb. picnic shoulders this weekend. I been given different ideas on how to make it. One would be to leave the skin on and the other to remove the skin. That not my problem since I'm making two shoulders I'll try one with the skin the other with out. My question is should I score the outside skin before I apply my rub. Any ideas?

I would, just because I'd think you'd get more penetration that way. Did I just say that?

I'd remove the skin. I know it's a pain in the a$$ to pull it off but where there's skin, there's no bark.
