Lightbulb What did I get for 60 bucks?

Here are the pictures of my first fixer-uper. Now what the heck did i buy? Is it a true Bandera? Looks like on the thing missing is a grill for the side fire box. Might have to get something custom made, hint hint!

Definitely a Bandera, and a real sturdy looking one at that.

I don't think it's a 'dera. But for $60.00 it's worth a clean up.

'byte you might be correct, but there are a couple of things that look different to me. But there are some things that looks very much like a 'dera.

That being said, if it is one, it's old...

It's definitely different from my Bandera in terms of the cart and the table. Also, the pic almost makes the exhaust stack look round. That cooker box and fire box are soooooo Bandera though, and even the right configuration. I figured it has had some mods. I saw the baffle, and to be honest I almost wonder if that cart is not a mod? I mean, the cart on mine looks pretty bad on the bottom, maybe this guy wanted something tough? I dunno. The folks on this site will figure it out I'm sure.

Not Bandera. It is an old Oklahoma Joe.

Note the round stack.

Do they make Olkahoma Joe's anymore? Is it over 10 years old?

I thought for sure that mine had a round stack. I just dug up an old picture and you are certainly right. It was square.

So the round stack is the giveaway? No doubt about it? Shane was right?

I can't take credit for the ID. Another Brother made the suggestion in his earlier thread. I just found pics to confirm.

That's from the Southwest Smoker Co. outta OK. They no longer exist. I got one just like that and refurbed it for my Dad. Those suckers are stout pits. Nice score. I have a couple pics in my profile page. I recommend two things. Reinforce the welds on the firebox door and weld the legs to the firebox and the meat chamber. I'll post some pics of that mod later. It's so heavy that the legs will wobble and loosen. You will love that pit.

I had an Ok Joe Vertical Roasting Oven from Sam's club and still have the smoke chamber attached to my Longhorn.

For future reference I'll mention the similarities and differences I remember.

The reasons I thought this might be an OK Joe is the wheels on the firebox end and the shelf underneath looked like mine.

The round exhaust with the small "lever" welded to it are like mine. Mine had pipe thimbles on the firebox for attaching a shelf. Also had thimbles on the left side of the upright. However, my shelf is solid sheet metal welded to a rod to go thru the thimbles. Mine had a metal baffle in the uptight chamber but it had round holes in it like the horizon diffuser plates for the Longhorn. The nameplate on mine is directly above the thermometer. The air intake in the firebox door on mine was a series of holes that spelled out OK Joe.

Either there were different versions of the Ok Joe or this one is the SW that Bob mentions.
