Default Pondering types of Toy Haulers

First it was the truck now it's the trailer - maybe I should request a garage room or something...

I think Boondoggle is close to getting a toy hauler, we have a couple within our price range that we are interested in right now. Seems like two main bumper pull types exist:

The one that looks like a travel trailer

And the one that looks more like a cargo trailer

The cargo type is much closer to the ground so loading and unloading would be easier - but that's about the only advantage I can think of with the cargo type.

For those of you that use toy haulers for competitions, would you say one type over the other would be preferred? We plan on doing most of the work outside (all but maybe garnishing boxes) and keeping the inside for comfort.

I use a 19w jayco octane to go to the comps. It is small enough to tow and park, but big enough to carry everything I need for a comp. I carry the Stump's, a XL BGE and a UDS, with two tables, a 10x10 tent and all of the other stuff. Has the kitchen, bathroom and sleeping area. Works for us, plus we take it to other places, like the grand canyon, etc for regular vacations with the family.

Hey Bobby. The work and play by Forest River seem pretty nice. I love my KZ Toy Hauler but my problem is it is high profile and gets pushed around a lot in wind. One of the things I really like is having a divider wall between the garage and the living quarters. While I can't keep 100% of the BBQ smell out, it helps. Plus if the air is on and the ramp is down the cold doesn't get out.

I really like the Kargoroo by Outback. It only weighs 5800 pounds, and will support 1000# in the cargo area. There is a door to keep the camper and cargo area separate. The back bedroom slides out, and it is all hardwall. Personally, I would recommend this.

1000 lbs cargo cap seems really low, at least for our needs. GThe Backwoods weighs about 400 and the Whole Hog about 300 - that doesn't leave much for the rest of the eq.

The one that looks like the top model we are looking at weighs in at 6030 and has a cargo cap of 4240. The cargo style weighs 5200 and can carry an additional 1800.

Coz, what is VP - cause that is a picture of the trailer I plan on going to look at tomorrow.

Keep BBQ smell out? Shouldn't that beautiful aroma be an attractive option when it comes time to sell?

Thanks for the input, I hope to hear more opinions from Toy Hauler users.

VP is a racing fuel.Great stuff but that and the other smells that come from a racing operation never seem to leave a trailer. My buddy was going to use his trailer to do some other things after he quit racing and just cant get rid of those smells. Now maybe this trailer doesnt have them but if it does I would put a lot of thought into getting rid of it.I am looking at trailers also and feel that I most likely wont go look at a trailr from any kind of racing.Just my .02
