I just noticed that they didn't have a full 25 turn-ins for all 4 categories? Will this be considered a legal contest? As it's in its 2nd year?

Hi Scottie, this was it's third year. I don't think that they allow just chicken and ribs to be cooked to qualify for the Jack...not sure..but don't think so. The rules state chicken, pork and beef, but it's not well defined.
This might be a good question to get answered. Know anyone at Jack that can help?

I know the same thing happened at Waucoma, Iowa. But I am not sure if the KCBS or anyone from the Royal or Jack ever ruled?

Can you imagine the number of contest result audits that will need to take place if there is an interpretation of the rules that states that the minimum number of teams required (15 or 25) must attempt to cook all four meats? And how would you treat a situation where a team missed the turn in window and wasn't given a score as opposed to a team that made a turn in but received a DQ and getting 1's from all the judges?

I think they changed the rules... Just so you can't get chicken cooks to pump up a contests numbers... But I am too lazy to go and search for them.
