Default We had a GREAT Weekend

We went to our first official full competition this weekend. It was Que and Cruz in Louisa, VA.

We had a great time away, and just to be busy and relax....

We met a great bunch of Brethren while we were there.

I had a great time spoil kids with all of my kids "stuff" (chocolate milk).... after I ran out, I kept hearing, "Hey Mr Milkman, you got any more of that chocolate milk?"..... My weekend was made... I made a hit with the kids, and they were happy. When the kids are happy, I am happy.

My wife commented on the way home how much more relaxing this one was. We went up on Thursday, and was set completely up, so on Friday, we were waiting on the meat inspection so we could prep it.... That was a whole lot better than driving 4 hrs, setting up and then get the meat inspection and prep trying to get done before the cook's meeting so we could get ready to start cooking....

For all of you that didn't make it, you missed a great time. The car show was set up right across from us for the most part, so we got to look over and see some of them on Saturday morning while prepping the boxes and running the boxes in for turn in...

Enough rambling.... Again, great to see all of the Brethren that participated.... hope to see all of you again.

It was great meeting you and your family, Bill. My kids loved the chocolate moo!!

I'm waiting for someone to post the official results. I don't think it would be appropriate for me to post a partial list since this was my first comp too. But I will say that some Brothers walked!!

I had a great time. Bill Small and his family did a super-terrific job organizing the event and I cant say enough good things about the job they did. Their campground is wonderful. Next year this comp will be fully KCBS certified so please put this event on your list to attend.

I met so many great people and learned so much that I'm working on a post of my thoughts for a first-time competitor. Me and BeerGuy haven't officially decided if we will compete again but my wife already has plans for it! She loved it! She was so impressed with all the good BBQ people she met. We made several new friends including Bill and his wife.

Hey Bill it was great meeting you. We too had a great time. The camp ground is a perfect place for a bbq competition. Mark I'm sorry we didn't get a chance to meet you. You were on our list but we never seemed to find the time.

Bill Small did a great job putting this thing together and we have it down for next year. There were 36 teams and I'd bet there will be 50 in 2009.

We also got our first DAL here! At least it was only in the desert catagory - our ice cream never really set up and instead of going with plan B - milkshakes, I plated it anyway.

Thanks for sharing the photo album Bill. We really enjoyed it. You and Gary did an unbelievable job. Big thanks to you and your family. We'll see you again next year for sure.
