Default Rancher Briquettes

Well,

I have found a place that is a mere 25 minutes away that stocks the Rancher briquettes in the 20# bags. He also gave me a nice bit of info as to why Home Depot may not be selling it this year.

It seems Home Depot was using it as a 'loss-leader, selling it at about $3 per bag under cost just to get people into the store to buy grills and accessories. He says they lost, nationally, about 2 million dollars on the stuff. Of course, I'm sure they made it up on grills and accessories. And I would imagine Kingsford had something to do with them not carrying it this year, too.

Anyway, his 20# bags are $7.99 (1-29 bags - better pricing for more quantity, of course). Still a pretty good bargain.

I use Rancher a lot. Bought 1000 lbs last summer.
Even at 8 bucks a bag it's cheaper than lump, and better than K, well, IMO anyway.

I recently finally found rancher. I bought 4 bags for a comp that I did. I borrowed a second WSM to do the comp. I forgot that the persons wife hasCeliac disease. (Alergic to gluten) Gave him for his troubles two bags. I forgot to tell him not to use as much as K. He did a burnout to clean his WSM then later called me up to ask that I come over to work in the foundry because he was forging steel. It was funny...

I'm almost out of Rancher. Bought 2 bags of Royal Oak last week for $6.99/bag.

That makes sense (about the lost leader). Wish I had bought a pallet of the chit. Rancher is good chit. Its especially good chit at $1.99/bag.
