The thing that saved me was that I put a blanket over the Lang to keep in the heat... Wonder if you could do something like that on the drum....

Looks good. 2 or 3 weeks ago I cooked 2-9lb butts, took about 14 hours at 225 deg. Then I let them rest in the oven (off) for a couple hours before I pulled them.
Today I smoked a 8.5lb brisket for 12 hours at 225 deg (I'll post a thread when I have time to do the pix). Today I got my "Bear Claws" and a pair of insulated rubber gloves, I sure wish I had them then.

Damn! I've never run out of charcoal in the drum, until today! I used my small ring with Royal Oak lump, never happened with briqs.
Those butts look great!

Thank God! Never could figure why anyone would ever want to use JD other than the two ways it was meant to be used....straight up or on the rocks.

I cooked 8 butts on my UDS Sat-Sun 68#'s and took 28 hours. Had a tell of time keeping the temps up with the high winds. After it was all done and pulled though, it was worth the wait. Next time though I will rotate the racks more often. Only did it once during this cook.
