The thing that saved me was that I put a blanket over the Lang to keep in the heat... Wonder if you could do something like that on the drum....

No need that i can see, drums are so tite they don't leak any heat out, it cruised today at 240 without hardly touching the intakes, and for 14 hours!!

Looks good. 2 or 3 weeks ago I cooked 2-9lb butts, took about 14 hours at 225 deg. Then I let them rest in the oven (off) for a couple hours before I pulled them.
Today I smoked a 8.5lb brisket for 12 hours at 225 deg (I'll post a thread when I have time to do the pix). Today I got my "Bear Claws" and a pair of insulated rubber gloves, I sure wish I had them then.

Damn! I've never run out of charcoal in the drum, until today! I used my small ring with Royal Oak lump, never happened with briqs.
Those butts look great!

I cooked 8 butts on my UDS Sat-Sun 68#'s and took 28 hours. Had a tell of time keeping the temps up with the high winds. After it was all done and pulled though, it was worth the wait. Next time though I will rotate the racks more often. Only did it once during this cook.
