Team Bio

Crapshoot BBQ was founded by Houston BBQ cooks Craig Sharry and Doug Dennin in 2004. They began cooking on a Gator Pit Bandit, a 20” diameter offset with an upright and currently cook on a Gator Pit Competitor. The team has enjoyed some success since its formation including the TGCBBQCA Cooker Of The Year award for Craig as well as Grand Champion at the 2007 North Harris County College CATE Festival which garnered an invitation to the American Royal in October 2007. After the Royal, Doug Dennin retired from competition BBQ to prepare for permanent retirement in the Philippines some time in 2008. Doug still cooks at home and supports us at the comps when he can and always coaches us from the sidelines. Darwin was recruited in February of 2007 to train as the newest team member.

Location info

Crapshoot BBQ is based out of Houston, Texas and we do most of our competitions within 100 miles of the greater Houston area with occasional trips to other parts of Texas. We do have plans on expanding our territory into south and central Texas as well as Louisiana in the 2008-2009 BBQ seasons.

Sanctioning body info
Crapshoot BBQ are members of the Texas Gulf Coast BBQ Cookers Association and the International BBQ Cooker Association (IBCA) and soon to be KCBS members.

Mentoring

Mentoring will be done on a case by case basis determined by the mentee's expectations, the individual BBQ event and our personal schedules.
