I'll start things off. Made a batch of Chili Colorado with some chuck roast. Good chile flavor.

Pardon my ignorance fellas, but I have a question. I made chili yesterday and even took a pic of it. Among some of it's ingredients are smoked chilies and smoked paprika. Can I still use this batch of chili for the throwdown?

Thanks!

Good question. Let's look at rule #5 & 6:

5. Entries must be Grilled or Smoked during the cooking process, or must prominently feature Grilled or Smoked ingredients which you prepared. Photos of your food on the grill or smoker are encouraged but not required (we love action shots).

6. Entries must be prepared during the time that the Throwdown Category is accepting entries. This period of time is specified in the first post of each Throwdown Category.

If you actually smoked the chiles and paprika during the time this TD is taking place, you'd be fine. If not, then no. The good news is you have all month to prepare another entry!

Here's one I submitted for a 2014 throwdown. I will have to try and re-create this master piece when at the cottage at the end of the month.

NOT AN OFFICIAL ENTRY.

Had some grilled sausage left over, so I made Jambalaya Soup.

This is the official pic for the throwdown.

Started by frying up some chopped bacon and adding onions then added the sausage

Added the healthy bits and a generous pinch of Punch Ya Daddy

Added the chicken stock and let cook for an hour or so

Threw in the rice and cooked til tender.

I've got all my fixin's for camp fire stew for this coming weekend.

This is my official Entry...
I didn't take any good photos because I didn't see this thread! So this photo isn't the greatest :( And, this is my first ever entry on this forum; I'm relatively new to the BBQ thing!

This is BBQ Brisket and Pulled Pork Chili! I had about 1/4lb of brisket vacuum sealed and frozen from this past summer; it was my first ever brisket. On January 7th, I smoked my first ever butt, and in the snow!
Here is the brisket, my first:

And here is my pork shoulder, also my first!!!

I was asked my our secretaries at work to prepare a chili for a work luncheon, and I decided to make a BBQ based chili! So I used the left-over brisket and a healthy portion of the pork to make this creation. It was phenomenal! Nine of us ate all 5.5 quarts in roughly 10 minutes! The best part to me was, it took a little less than perfectly cooked brisket and made it a touch more tender and fall-apart-y

This is the only in progress pic I took:

Sorry about the uninspiring photo, but here is my chili entry pic...
