Default Cherry planked hot BBQ Doughnuts !

Howdy folks !

BBQ Doughnuts ? Hell yeah ! This is a hot & spicy BBQ Doughnut with ground pork and Sombrero Rub. Cooked them on a cherry plank on the napoleon gas grill with some pellets for smoke.

Recipe for 2 Doughnuts :

  • 500 Gramms of Ground Pork meat
  • 12 slices Bacon
  • 25 Gramm Don Marco’s Sombrero Rub
  • 2 spring onions, sliced
  • 2 Jalapeno Peppers, diced
  • Hot Sauce
  • wood plank
  • 50 Gramm grated cheddar cheese
  • BBQ Sauce

Mix the ground pork with the Sombrero Rub, Hot Sauce, Peppers and half of the spring onions. Then mold two burger pattys out of the meat and poke a hole in the middle.
Carefully mold the pattys into doughnut shape. Then wrap the Doughnuts with Bacon. This step is easyer if you freeze them about an hour to make the mor stable.
Put the Doughnuts on a soaked wood plank and cook at about 180-200 Degree celsius until the meat is almost done, about 70 Degree internal temperature.
Glaze with the BBQ Sauce and top with the cheese and the rest of the spring onon slices. Raise the Temperature and melt the cheese.

Enjoy !

Thats a cool idea would be great thing to whip up for a backyard party. Would cooking them without the plank greatly change the taste?

The plank also makes handling easy and for a nice presentation, but i think as long as you use a good wide spatula you should be fine.
