DQ'ed Chicken Followup
As a follow-up to my post of July 30, 2006 (http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/sh...ad.php?t=19279) about my chicken turn-in being DQ'ed because the contest reps thought it was fried. I am happy to report there has been alot of progress. With the help of Jim Minion the issue has been discussed quite a bit at the KCBS. As it turns out the DQ would not have been warranted even if it has been pan fried. We smoked the chicken but it seems pan frying is legal. We are not sore at the KCBS because after all this is just a hobby for us and we would be a couple of places out of the money anyway. We are glad that this has not been swept under the rug and that steps are being taken to prevent this from happening again. We would like to publically like to thank Jim Minion for helping us out and the KCBS for acting on our request.

Great news, Guy! Way to go, Jim! I saw the topic discussed in the Bullsheet when it arrived the other day and knew it was about you all. Sometimes it's good to make a few waves! LOL!

I also feel like a fool. I forgot to thank all the brothers who supported me when I wasn't sure what to do. Your PM's and posts helped alot. I also forgot to say that I used the recipe in competition in New Holland and scored a 629.

I'm really glad they addressed the issue and have a decision on it for everyone to know. I think I am going to try pan fried chicken with a bbq sauce glace one of these days for grins just to see what happens.

Guy
You have made a lot of Reps become aware of making snap calls on these type of turn-ins. We will have to see how the Board decides to forward on the subject. The Board really needs to consider how any rule changes effect the job a Rep has to perform. Thank you for your support of KCBS and understanding how the process works.

Good job, Guy and Jim. Anything that bloodlessly changes rules for the better is a good thing.

Good going guys. I'm really impressed that the matter was attended to and presented in such a timely manner. And the fact that a rule change is in the works now really has to make you say WOW!

Looking forward to seeing you there. I talked to Tom and he assured that Bristol is very much alive but it will change locations.
