Default My Assassin has arrived!

I ordered my Assassin back in mid June and it arrived yesterday. This thing is beautiful. Jeff and Robin and the team at C & C Manufacturing did a fantastic job.

I only had time to open up the crate yesterday, plus I need some help getting it off the pallet. I have a busy week so I hope to get it seasoned and start cooking on it this weekend.

I also bought a the cover for it because it will be living outside.

I added an extra rail runner between the first and second shelves.

They are now putting a 90 degree elbow on the ball valve.

Beautiful! You are gonna love cooking on a gravity feed, especially if you picked up a Guru!

Peeps, the Assassin now comes with a Pitmaster IQ120 instead of a Guru. I've had a Guru Competitor for years that I use on my Primo XL. If I don't like the Pitmaster, I can always use my guru.

Ron, I plan on cooking a couple fatties during the seasoning process.

Nice rig - way to go! Why 90 degrees on the ball valve?

I did not ask for that. In all the pictures I've seen, there was only the ball valve. I would think it's just to keep the the blower from sticking out from the side of the cooker.

Perhaps the 90 bend and riser are due to the change to the IQ vs the guru. For the IQ, you use a hose barb adapter at the ball valve and maybe they thought that with the proximity to the lower part of the firebox, the heat might be too much for the blower hose. That is the only area of my SS2 that gets hot and it gets REAL hot down there.

The way I see it, with the 90 degree elbow there, it puts the hose right next to the chute. I would think the radiant heat would be greater than with the ball valve being straight out.

I don't know if there is insulation in between the charcoal chute and the outer skin. I will find out soon enough.

There is insulation but the chute still gets hot down hear the bottom of it where the fire is. On my SS2, the paint is different down there (matte vs gloss) and once you hit that paint transition, it is HOT! The rest is fine to touch.
