Default Hello from San Diego, CA!

I've been a LONG time lurker here but finally signed up. It's amazing how we do that all the while knowing it only takes 5 mins to sign up

I've been cooking for just shy of 10 years now and I'm only finding the art and joy of BBQ taking over more and more of my life. I started with just a Weber kettle doing indirect setup, moved to an 18" WSM, then a 22" WSM and now I am the proud owner of a Lang 48" Patio. I took to the stick burner and fire management almost instantly and now have people asking to pay me for Q.....I never charge but it is a real good feeling that it is appreciated so much. If you help me with the meat cost, grab me a cold one and hang out, all is good. Living in SD, I have the benefit of being able to cook year round so I pretty much have my street smelling good just about every weekend. I've cooked for many parties and groups over the years, my biggest being 150+ (all on my WSM's somehow). The highlight for me is just seeing people smiling and enjoying BBQ and the atmosphere it creates.

I am now thinking of getting into the competitive scene and entering a few small competitions to test the waters. The biggest problem I have is that I am the ONLY person in my circle that has a passion for BBQ so I am pretty much alone other then the support from my awesome wife. That is why I am now here, I am sick of being alone....hoping to share my passion for it as well as learn as much as I can from all the knowledge this place has. Thanks for having me! Sorry for the long post...lots to say

We'll actually be heading to the Pechanga Casino comp this weekend and it's the 1st one I've ever been to, I can't wait!
