Default Meatloaf on the Weber

For the "on the kettle" throwdown, I decided to keep things simple. In reality, this cook was more of a learning experience as I had yet to smoke anything on a kettle. I chose to go with a meatloaf since if you really think about it, it is nothing more than a large beef fatty .

For my setup, I decided to go with the snake. I made a semicircle of charcoal, added some hickory chunks to the beginning, and started it with 10 coals.

While the kettle got up to temperature, I threw together my meatloaf, oiled and seasoned some potatoes for baking. I used a rub that the local BBQ place sells.

Everything goes on the kettle and cooks for about 2 1/2 hours.

The kettle kept a temperature in the range of 240-260 (with a peak of 275). Not bad for my first time with this technique. I don't normally glaze my meatloaf that I smoke as I prefer the crust that forms. Not that it really matters, I like how the smoke ring turned out.

When I finished the smoke, I closed everything down and this is what I had left in the morning. I love how I can save charcoal like this on this new kettle.

Thanks for looking.

I like how the smoke ring turned out, too! Smoke rings are our kind of perks, aren't they? Looks delicious, Dauvis.

Looks really good. I've read to probe for done near the top of the loaf because it's the last to get done. I see that's where you probed it. Very Cool!
