Default Need some input from my Brutha's

Found this to $30 the other day. I know the water pan looks to be in the wrong place, but what is this? home built ? store bought? worth my time to tinker with it? hmmmm

It looks like a Brinkmann but the door is in the wrong place. Is the bottom just open with a pan for charcoal? It seems like you would need to seal that up to control temps.
