Default Thin Blue Smoke

After years of trying, 2 different smokers, much trial and error and too much research, I HAVE FINALLY ACHIEVED THIN BLUE SMOKE!!!

The smell coming off my smoker has never been better, the little heat waves coming out of the cracks couldn't look cooler and the smell on my hand when I put it over where the smoke exits couldn't smell better.

I am so happy right now. CHEERS!!!!

10lb pork shoulder

Master Forge El Cheapo Vertical charcoal smoker

I honestly dont know what I did any different. I loaded up a few coals at the bottom, let them get hot and threw some lump mesquite over the top with some hickory chunks. it has been sitting at a solid 240 for the last 2 hours.

I really wish I knew what I did, I think it was just dumb luck. Now I have something to strive for. Looking forward to pulling this shoulder apart tmw to see how it turns out.

Smokizona,
It's easy to understand. You've reached the state of "Blue Zen". Congrats! Now pass your expertise onto others... Like me :)

Chicks dig the TBS. I was at Wallyworld the other day and the cute lady at the register asked me if I'd been smoking something. I live in Colorado, so I thought I should clarify I had a pork butt on the smoker. She said I smelled so good. She loved it, it was...sexy. I immediately looked at her left hand. Of course...big 'ol ring. Story of my life Lol.

I love thin blue smoke but it doesn't happen always to me.... I'm still studying! I usually use the smoking snake with just 1 small hole at one end, like this

With this set up I usually get a light blue thin smoke, like this

Its pretty simple really, its just a matter of getting a very hot fire established in the beginning. Once you have a base aka red hot coals you can make adjustments from there. Just try that your next cook and see how it goes. I bet you like the results!
