Default Need a wood smokers help

Going old school for the first time. Normally cook with charcoal but this time I am doing bacon and want to cook old school with hickory, problem is I have shoveled several shovel fulls of coal to get my temp but I have no smoke. What gives?

The shovel in method will produce far less smoke since much of it has burnt off in the previous fire. Your still getting smoke, just not the thin blue. If you really wanted more than this method is providing you could begin feeding it directly as the the fire needs fuel.

well its more heat less smoke, but it's there. lol..
think grayed over bricketts...... thats the smoke output.... lil bitty bit.
but the taste is gRRrrreeeaaT

Don't worry about it. The needed gases are still there. Just means you have real clean smoke. If you are using 100% wood coals, you don't ahve to worry about NOT getting a smoke flavor, that's for sure.
