Default UDS competition?

Anyone use UDS for competition? Also has anyone used or seen the big poppas drum kit? Just wondering if it's worth the penny

The big poppa kit is the king of kits for a uds.

The UDS is a very common and capable competition smoker.

I compete on them exclusively. I have an expensive gravity fed collecting dust in my garage right now because the cans put out a better product with less effort.

I compete on a couple of cans I built. The best thing about a drum smoker is you can make it what you want and customize it to fit you and how you cook. I personally would read the uds thread and decide about how you want yours built before buying a kit and being locked in to one design. So many different options and variables to be decided how you like to cook.

Love my 2 Big Poppa kit UDS. Will be using them later this season on some of my out of state contests to keep from having to haul my big trailer across country.

We competed on a UDS, I would recommend two for competing, one makes timing and temperature a little more complex. With a little practice they put out excellent product.

I use my UDS for competition, too. I love it. It is ugly as sin, but easy to control and plenty of capacity.

Love my UDS. Im about to buy three more drums. Gonna make two more for myself, and one for my brother. I competed with one last year at a comp, and realized I needed at least one more. This year I plan on competing with 2 UDS and a weber kettle.
