Default Best of the West Lump Mesquite Charcoal

Found this Lump at Sam's Club - Anyone used it for smoking?
I have a lit chimney and am using it in my Weber grill tonight but 1st time I used it a couple weeks ago it made some great flavor steaks.
I have never heard of it before but will buy more of it !

Given the endless choices of mequite lump available here I personally don't like that brand. A lot of waste in the bag (small pieces, dust and such), cracks and pops all over the place and has a funny smell to it. For direct grilling or open pit grilling it will be fine though.

BTW I smoked with mesquite before but it tends to overpower the meat. At least for me becuase some people seem to like it.

Thumbs up

I have used a lot of it and like it. I also like the 20 lb bag better than the 40. So far, the smaller bag seems to have less dust and fewer very small pieces. The smaller bag also has not been torn with holes in it like the larger bag nearly always was.
