Default What price do pay for briquettes?

I use Kingsford bb for most of my cooking. The main reason is cost, consistency, and availability. When blue bag 2 packs are on sale it cost $0.25 lbs.

What price per pound do other briquettes cost?
When, where can i get other brands on sale?
What do you use?

I stock up on Kingsford every year, but for the right price I would try another brand.

try GFS

I think I paid $8.99 for 20 lbs for their house brand. They are better than KBB, made by Royal Oak, all hardwood no fillers

I use Stubbs. I get it at Lowes $8.99 for 15 lb bag I believe. I use royal oak as a back up if I cant get to the stubbs.. Its a little cheaper at $6.99 for 18lb.

I agree with that. I did not have a Lowes handy so I tried the GFS briqs and they are pretty good.

Not as good as Stubbs though

But he was asking for cheap...

Looking at briquettes. Does royal oak do briquettes? How much?
Lump has too many irregular pieces and too much dust for me.

Like I said above most cooking I do is by live fire, even more than my oven. I doubt I'll find anything cheaper, just looking for a reasonable alternative

Yes Royal Oak makes briquettes, I wish I could find them locally here. I go with the Stubb's from Lowes for 8.99 per 15 pound bag. I buy KBB when it goes on sale for $.25 a pound for grilling.

Home Depot around here has Embers briquettes - made by Royal Oak. Don't know how they compare to Royal Oak branded briquettes.

$5.99 for 16.7 pounds.

I've only tried them once; seemed to work OK.

I've got some more to try this weekend.
