Default Replacement unit Therms

Do they make replacement therms for WSM's and other grills that are any more accurate? I know not to trust them and that is why I have a Maverick. I also know that for the WSM and my gasser, the therm is in the lid, not at the cooking level. I guess I am just being anal and if it has a thermometer, it should be at least close to accurate.

You're right. The therms in the WSM are way inaccurate. Mines off by over 20 degrees. I just use a Maverick and Thermapen but Tel-tru Manufacturing makes a really good one to replace the WSM therm. They aren't cheap, but nothing worth it is. Here's link https://www.teltru.com/s-43-barbecue.aspx

River Country thermos are 1/2 the price of Tel Trus and work just as well, and are made very very well

Do a search on them here, save yourself some money

I opened up the hole on my WSM and replaced the stock thermo with a River Country like this:

That's nice. I like that it can be re-calibrated...

Are yours off due to calibration or location? I would bet mounting "a better one" in the same location may not give you much better results.

Peeps, I was wanting to replace the two that are on my Webers. It's been my experience that of all the good things Weber put's into their grills, therms ain't one of them. Even the WSM I just bought, the therm is off by several degrees at low temp and a LOT at high temp.

This is why I want to replace the therm. When I took this pic, my Maverick said I was sitting at 351* upper grill grate level...
