Default UDS Hardware

I was at HD today looking at hardware for my UDS build. I know not to use anything that is galvanized but is there any other type of material that I should avoid?

The two materials I was primarily looking at were stainless steel and other items that were zinc plated.

The CA cancer warnings on the boxes got me thinking.

Thanks,

I use Stainless - Zinc coated probally ok but if there is a stainless option I go stainless. Now conduit nuts on pipe nipples you got no choice. On nipples get black steel.

The consensus is do stainless....that said i can't see how bolts holding the grill grate could make a difference one way or the other because it doesn't get hot enough up there.

Galvanized metal is zinc plating. Thee danger is using it in your basket what it exposed to high heat. Grate bolts and other associated hardware pose no danger.

Go stainless if you can. I recommend finding an Ace Hardware. Great selection of stainless in single serving options.
