Default Huli Huli RIBS!

I cooked some Huli Huli chicken last week and my FIL said he wished that he and the MIL had come by. We usually have a family dinner every Sunday.

I had originally planned to smoke a porchetta, but my pork loin turned out to be three racks of baby-backs. As my FIL loves sweet flavors, I thought I'd try some ribs Huli Huli style!

They are on now at 262* cruising...

Anyone every tried this?

I tried huli huli chicken once and loved it. Need to do it again soon.

I would imagine it would work well for ribs, although given that the marinade has a lot of sugar, you'll want to watch your temps to prevent burning.

Also, you could enter the ribs in the Candied & Glazed AND the Holiday Feasts Brethren Style Throwdowns!

Thanks for the warning Moose! For once I have plenty of time, so no need to ramp up the temps today.

I will try to pull some pron to post in the TDs.

Default Not too bad...

The Huli Huli ribs were very good...I received many compliments from the sweet flavor lovers in the family.

I doctored up my own rack with some OakRidge Secret Rib Prototype and some Habanero Death Dust...sweet and spicey!

Plated with a romaine salad and a Hasselback potatoe.

Looks great. I grew up with my mom's Teriyaki Spareribs, which she did in an oven but, I have since worked out that they are terrific on a kettle or smoker as well. They are terrific.

My mom's teriyaki, and consequently my version too, is nowhere near as sweet or sticky as what most people eat. It was a much more balanced salty/sweet, with strong ginger and Sherry flavors.

That looks awesome. Huli huli chicken is a favorite around my house. It never occurred to me to use pork but it makes perfect sense, especially pork ribs. I just picked up some spare ribs I was going to cook Christmas eve and I think I am going to do them huli huli style.

Thanks for the idea.
