Drove back from a long weekend in Conway, AR yesterday and stopped at a little Q joint just off I-57 near the Rend Lake area in southern Illinois (exit 83). Actually stopped just to top off the gas tank while gas prices were still relatively low so I wouldn't have to fill up when I got closer to Chicago. Across the street from the gas station near the exit ramp was this place called Uncle Joe's BBQ. I remembered seeing their sauce on the shelves at Boomland in Chaleston, MO so being lunch time we stopped to check it out and were happy we did. Bought the BBQ Sampler plate for $10.99 which included a 1/4 lb. of chopped bbq pork, 1/4 lb. of sliced brisket, two spare ribs, a piece of grilled buttered toast, and fries. The pork, brisket, and ribs were tasty and tender and did not need sauce. This will be a place I will stop to eat next I'm traveling south on I-57 and recommend you try it to if you find yourself in the area.

Why havent you road tripped to Royal Oak yet? ;)
