Default Guru Pit Bull fan damper is a bit sticky, anyone else?

When I first got my Guru/Fan the damper seemed to operate very smoothly. After a few cooks it now is very "sticky" and difficult to slide. It appears to be clean, no grease or anything in there. I did hit it with a touch of silicon spray and that seemed to help but it's still not right. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I have never adjusted my damper, I leave it wide open.

I did not like the way that the fan was near the ground so I modified my air intake accordingly. The black iron pipes need to be cleaned and repainted..
