please dont mind the long bushes. i knew i was doing this patio at some point this summer, well now fall, and i refused to cut something I'm removing lol.

Oh and if you're wondering about the french doors to the right, yes the previous homeowner just put them in with no steps. Just the old single door stoop. Its a long first step if you use those doors........

Mobility of the pit is a great advantage when entertaining.
I mean if you have a breeze in the wrong direction and the smoke is blowing to the area where the guests are, or one of those swirling types, your guests are smoked out.
I'd personally go with a non-permanent set up.
But if you're set on it being built in, make sure you consider your predominent wind direction in the setting of the pit.

just my .02 cents

I have to agree with diesel. I think flexibility is important and maximizing the space you have. I love the way built in look but they can take up a lot of space. I am allotting space for my weber genesis and the smoker I am buying but I want to be able to move them if I am not using them to creat more space for guests or whatever.

By the way Mat. A patio is going to look great off the back of the house. Absolutely do not shut in one of those doors. You will be able to do a lot of fun entertaining there.

I like the versatility of having a gas grill and an insulated smoker. Some folks just don't like the smoke flavor . Really impress them by finishing your cook on both at the same time.

Yup a Purty UDS and Kettle plus your Gasser build Steps and add Patio Cover maybe with a wall on one end with shelves, hAng dangly party lights, add outdoor speakers and small flat screen tucked up under patio for Football Games and get ur BBQ On!!

Me ? I'd get a color matching Aluminum Carport Style Patio Cover.

Not that it looks like you need shade, but I agree on the patio cover. Nothing better than sitting on the patio in the rain sipping on a beverage.

My cookers are uncovered, though.

How about one of these as the focal point of your patio:
[IMG][/IMG]

I haven't used a gasser for 4 years now, and I can't say that there is anything I miss about it. Gas grill heads for a built in setup are not cheap. If you want flexibility, then you could even buy 2 BGE's and still spend less than you would have on a gas grill.

However, I do like landarc's idea of using the gasser to park the know-it-all!
