Default Advice on building a smoker from a propane tank

My Church needs a pit. A member is a shop teacher and wants to make it a school year project/welding. We have a propane tank and know how to clean it out before cutting. We need a fairly detailed drawing or two to get started. Any advice and/or drawing is appreciated!

What size tank?
Vertical or Horizontal?

For example, here is a link to my RF offset build thread with a 120 gallon tank.
http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/sh...d.php?t=151935
If there is anything else from my build that you think would be helpful let me know and I'll see what other pics I have.

At the bottom of the page is search tool. If you enter key words like "120 gallon offset", "reverse flow", "new build" or other key words for the kind of tank you have you will find literally dozens of build threads.

Best of luck, let us know how it turns out.

Default Keep It On Topic

If you have nothing to add that will help answer the OP's questions, then please do not post for the sake of posting. He's asking specific questions, and we'd like for him to get specific answers. The thread has been scrubbed. Keep it on topic.

I built a reverse flow smoker out of a 250 gallon propane tank. You can get info on cleaning before you cut open on youtube . I watches a few videos on what to do before you cut it open . I made sure i had it filled with water when I was cutting . As far as the propane smell you just need to burn out . One burn will take the smell right out. When you decide what kind of smoker you want there are several pit calculators online to size your firebox, intake and exhausts .
