Default Hello from LA!

Hello! My name is Bill and recently moved out to So Cal - just west of LA. I'm trying to learn as much as I can about smoking! I'm in the process of shopping for a smoker I can use in the backyard and use for my first competition. Any suggestions or tips would be much appreciated! Thanks guys!

I'm new as well. I started building a uds to save some money for all meats I'm going to be cooking. I smoked my first but Sunday, it was the best thing I have ever eaten.
