James I am sure that works But your an experienced guy Just wouldnt recomend that plan for a newer smoker. I just have found the BDS to be delightful for flavor and ease of use. When matched with the WSM the price is competitive.

Not arguing in the least... I agree with ya that a greenhorn might not latch on to the technique right off the bat. I like the product from my barrel as well. Different strokes kinda thing.

I like the concept of the BDS. And for less than the price of a trailer mounted smoker you could carry 3 or 4 of those in the back of a pickup with just as much capacity. Shipping is a bear though.
*sigh* No smoker manufacturers in Californina.

I have heard really good things about that Big Drum smoker.
Can't say anything about my Grandfather and BBQ though, he burnt up in a fire when I was 3. Had some bacon grease on news papers and tossed them in a fire and they blew back on him and burnt him up right there!!!! True story. Didn't really know him, so he didn't show me how to Q, but he did teach me a good lesson about pork fat!!! Don't throw bacon grease on a fire!!!! You guys can always count on me for a good story. Smoke On!!!! ed |
