Default 2nd Annual “Go Hog Wild” Arkansas State BBQ Championship, Sheridan, AR, Oct. 4 & 5, 2013

Greetings Sports Fans!

Well, it’s that time again! Time to load up those Old Milwaukee cans you’ve been hoarding, get Mabel in that 1971 Ford truck with the rusted out fenders, haul them to the scrap yard and trade them in for some cache (the cans, not Mabel), and come to the “Go Hog Wild” Arkansas State BBQ Championship, October 4 & 5, in Sheridan, AR!

Last year, we held the 1st annual during our yearly Timberfest celebration, and it was a huge success. The weather was terrible, but we have ordered up some better for this year. Despite the weather, the public was thrilled with the contest, and based on the responses we received after, the cooks had a tremendous time as well. The cookoff is being held again this year in conjunction with our 30th annual Timberfest celebration and the Arkansas State Timber Cutting Competition on Saturday, so crowds are sure to be large! Unfortunately, our winner last year, Randy Hill with Southern Krunk BBQ Society, will not be with us – BECAUSE HE WILL BE COOKING AT THE ROYAL IN KC!!!! Randy’s win here earned him an entry to the Royal, and we hope he represents us well!!!

We are getting a late start this year, but it will be every bit as good. Our cookoff will be IBCA, and as of right now, entry fees will be the same as last year at $125, and we expect the prize money to be increased. We had 20 teams last year, and our target this year is 30 teams. We will supply electricity, water, ash cans, grease dumps, and a whole lot of hungry BBQ fans!

Due to one lowdown, deadbeat, rat lower than whale snot in the Pacific Ocean who wrote us a hot entry check and then walked away with several hundred dollars of prize money, all entry fees paid by check must be received no later than September 21st. Entry fees after that must be paid by cash, cashier’s check, or money order. Entries received after that with checks will be returned!!!
