Default Traeger Pellets

What are your guys opinions on Traeger Pellets? It seems pretty hard to find any other brands in Alberta without having to go through any special mail order options and that can add-up quick.

- How do they perform for Taste and how do Traeger Pellets clog up the auger.

I avoid Traeger pellets as much as possible. They burn just fine, but they are at the bottom end as far as flavor IMO, and I don't like the smell they put off. Try to find Lumberjack, BBQr's Delight or B&B (those two are the same) or Cookin'Pellets. I hear Bear Mountain pellets are good too, but I've never used them.

It's seems like you can buy Lumber Jack Pellets from Amazon.ca for Canada at $38 per a 40 lbs. bag. I think would be pretty good if you can get them on super save shipping.

The price the Hickory at $80 bucks is bit much.

I gotta like Hickory a lot at that price.

I buy Lumberjack's by the ton from the factory. I'm not sure how that works with you living in Canada, but it makes it much more affordable and you have a stock for a long time. Or if you know anyone else in your area that cooks with pellets, you can split an order between however many you can round up.

I use Traeger pellets in my cold smokers, and also scattered in my charcoal burn. They work great when making fresh smoked sausage in the vertical smoker.

They work fine for that, but i don't have a pellet pooper.
