Default Mater sammich time...

Because I make BBQ year round I don't get excited for summer for the same reason as some of my bbq brethren do. I don't like high temps and can't stand muggy weather after it rains on a hot day.

I do, however, looooove tomatoes!!! And being that I won't touch the things sold in stores I can't get my beloved brandywines, cherokee purples, german pinks and black krims until summer hits. And boys it's here and I've been chowing down on at least a mater sammich a day since mid last week.

Bread salt pepper mayo and tomato has to be one of the greatest combinations in history. So hope all my brethren are enjoying the summer like I am and hitting the maters hard!!! HAPPY SUMMER!!!!

My favorite is making BLT's with a mater right out of the garden or slicing them, salting them and chowing them down this time of year.

My GF says Dukes is the only way to go but it is one of the only things we argue about. LOL!! I will agree its tasty on deli.

My compromise is getting the super rich mayo from SAMS in the gallon jug. Can stand a wooden soup spoon up in that stuff. Love it! And good on fries too! Almost as good as the Sysco brand stuff I get from my local fishcamp. LOL!!

My wife and kids love maters!! I will have to say that it does look good. A slice of mater, some dukes, and salt and pepper on white bread. I just can't do it. Only like cooked tomatoes. Maybe when I grow up I will like them.

I like tomatoes, but can't do that tomato sandwich stuff. My wife on the other hand is a great lover of tomato sandwiches, exactly how you like them.

I love tomato sandwiches so much I won't allow mayo to mess with it.
Sea salt, white pepper, that's it.
Oh, and toasted sourdough, thick sliced tomato and S&P is my perfect breakfast!

I Do use home made mayo on my BLT's though, I admit.
Commercial tomatoes SUCK, I travel 15 miles to buy decent ones.

I like tomatoes fresh out of the garden, when I can get 'em, and just eat it like an apple (after washing of course).
I've been using the Kraft mayo with olive oil, but i'll hafta give Duke's a try.
