Default Ribfests?

What are the largest Ribfests in the US and Canada?

How are the winners determined?

How does the public pay to participate?

Are the participating cooks given their ribs by the organizer?

How are the teams compensated?

Thank you!

Eric

Thanks for asking this, we are having one here next month, and I, too, am confused as to what it is. It looks to be closed or invitation only to cook in it.

Sparks, Nevada; Naperville, IL and Cleveland, Ohio are some huge ribfests.

Turn in multiple racks to be judged by a panel of celebrity judges

Public pays for racks. Half rack, 4 bone and full rack. Up to $25-27 for a full rack.

Ribbers buy their ribs from a supplier. Usually at over inflated prices.

Teams are laid cash for the ribs. Vendors also have to pay a up front fee for the privledge to vend

If its like lake in the hills ribfest, you don't even have to make edible ribs for $27 a slab.

I could have cooked at Lake in the Hills with a friend. I was down in South Carolina though.

Its a lot of work. You can make a killing with right marketing And good weather. You can also take a bath if there isn't good marketing And terrible weather ..
