Default Build question, door counterweight

I am working on the counter weight for my pit door on my build and am struggling with what to use and how to make it work. Do most use concrete filled pipe for the weight? How did you figure out how high to make it, where to put it and the right angle? I hate rewelding through trial and error. Thanks in advance!

We like pics.. Please and Thanks in advance! lol also the thing about counterweights is to make sure you mount it far enough back that it actually helps when initially picking up the door and does not add to the weight of the door.. also most i have seen used a pipe or tube filled with concrete. as the counterweight. also keep in mind that if your making a counterweight doorstop combination make sure it us far enough up so the wind can't blow the door closed on the person cooking..
