I marinate mine as follows
1/8 cup soy sauce
1/16th cup Worcestershire
8 ounces of water
1 teas. fresh garlic
3 teas beef base or skip the water and beef base and use 8ounces beef broth
1 teas dried onion
1 tbl. apple cider vinegar
marinate 2 hours, dry rub, then smoke for 2 hours
remove and braise in 3 cups of beef broth
pinch of cayenne
pinch of sage
1/2 of a bay leaf
few twists of black pepper
onion,celery,carrots
braise till tender couple hours I would say
then I remove and mix 50/50 bbq sauce and braising liquid for a final glaze
on the smoker or grill to set the glaze
GOOD LUCK

short ribs take a loooooooong time to cook. i don't know i'd marinade for cooking today.

but, ricks sinful is a good one.

12 oz. can of beer
½ cup cider vinegar
½ cup of water
½ cup Worcestershire sauce
¼ cup olive oil
1 tablespoon beef base
2 tablespoons barbeque sauce
1 tablespoon seasoned salt or rub.
1 tablespoon celery seed
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon MSG
Heat all ingrediates to help disolve.

it's actually a brisket wrap, but i imagine it would work well for a marinade.
