Question Cleaning the Brass Rain Hat on Traeger

The brass rain hat over the chimney on my Traeger is filthy and I'd like to shine it up a little bit. Any thoughts on the best way to clean this up. The top of it will shine up just fine with some brasso or bartender's friend. I'm more looking for suggestions on what to use to clean the underside which is caked with soot, grease and gunk.

Is there something I should soak it in or spray it with?

Surprise, surprise, surprise. That is not brass at all. Soaked it in some boiling water and baking soda and realized that it is a lovely aluminum rain hat not brass at all!
