I got somethin' for ya...

This was my entry in a TD in Week 3... 2011

Hobo Pork Ribs (Alton Brown Style) with Hobo Noodles Right...

Scared you with this photo I think... even though I got no comments... farkers...

but nothing I've seen so far was even close to the experience of opening that can...

Fark me... it stunk like a cheap can of sloppy cat food..

Now, having taking these ribs out of the can, I realised these were already "fall off the bone tender"... Here they are on a plate.

What to do. These things are never gonna survive 2 minutes on my offset.

Solution... farking hot and farkin fast....

SO I lit the chimney...

And once to coals were OK, places a SS grate over the top...

And like Alton with his perfect Steak, Nuked the Pork Ribs...

Then while the pork was "resting", I figured Alton farkin' Brown never did cheap arse Hobo Noodles on HIS Charcoal Chimney!!!

So, now to the plating... I kept to the simple Asian theme here. Chinese ribs, on noodles in a bowl... farkin winner... even for a hobo.... a hobo never ate so good (Plating SHot Below Chris with the Metho for effect!)

A close-up...

Now, here's where it gets interesting.

Never explained this to the wife.

Nope

Just cooked it and served it...

Said NOTHIN!

Then... because it was the next door neighbours wifes 46th birthday celebration today.... laid it on the table.... and Farked off...

Hey babe.. here's something for you... see you over there later...

I get back at 9:30pm... quite Smashed

Wife's in bed asleep.... took this photo!

Sorry, no photo's of the wife in bed... that's my business.

But what you see here is an eaten Hobo Dinner... from the farkin Can!

Plus... a little ingenuity

Cheers Farkers!

Bill

Using the spicy Korean ramen, Shin Ramyun brand... Cook ramen with both spice packet and dried veggie packet. After noodles are cooked through, crack one egg, add to pot (light boil only, a rolling boil will break the egg up into super tiny pieces), stir gently to break it up somewhat. Slice some raw pork tenderloin paper thin, maybe a half dozen pieces. Add to bowl right before serving, and let the broth cook the slices. If you want it extra tangy, add a spoonful of spicy cabbage kimchi right before serving as well.

We'll sometimes use these for noodles when we make stir fry. We haven't used the salt packet, I mean seasoning packet, in years

Top Ramen al la BluDawg

Take the package crush it up,
open the package shake the contents over the pail,
close the pail,
then go make a PB&J with bananas, Open a Yahoo and enjoy.

Have tossed out those packets for years - and have replaced with a little HDD and leftover pulled pork or chicken.

I cook the noodles but not the broth packet. Then I quickly fry the noodles with ginger, fish sauce and garlic pepper paste. To that I add grilled chicken, peppers, cilantro, apples (cilantro and apples go great together with ginger), grilled zuchinni or yellow squash and grilled onions, chives/green onions, lemon zest, etc. I then top it with hoison, oyster, peanut or terriaki sauce, depending on my mood. It is always a hit.

Nissin Tonkotsu flavor. I boil the water with Kimchi and then add the spice packets. Then I throw in the noodles with Chicharones (pork rinds). Delicious!

My youngest like to eat the ones in the styrofoam cups. We drain out the water, add a little shredded cheese, some sour cream, and Tapatio, Sriracha, or Chalula! Quick, simple, and delicious.

Matt

They're even good straight up!

My wife crushes the noodles, and the chicken ramen soup flavor packet in an Asian slaw that she makes. Delicious!

For those all too frequent late night ramen cravings we take a quick 10 minute drive to Little Tokyo and grab seats at the counter at any one of several hole-in-the-wall ramen-ya's. Ramen/gyoza/rice set is what I always order.....about 7 bucks....+ large Kirin.

Everyone knows, the best and most manly way to eat Ramen is too, eat the noodles dry, chug a cup of boiling water, and snort the spice packet!
