Default 1st Tri Tip

Turns out we have a local butcher that has 2 tri tips a day. Took a few days but I got one on Friday. Saturday I put a coffee rub on it, and put it on the KJ with some Asparagus, and twice baked potatos. Looks like I will be cooking a few of these a month.

Sunday I had some Baby Backs that had been in the freezer for a while and thought I would see if they were still good. Ended up cooking them much hotter and faster than I set out, but they were great. Rubbed them, foiled them after about 1.5 hours. Cooked in foil about 35-45 minutes. let them rest and sliced. They were great, cooking temp was about 375f.

Nice cooking, sounds like you will be competing for tri-tips then.

I hate to have to tell you this but that roast is not a tri-tip. It looks nothing like one. I see so many pics of false tri-tips from back east that I feel sorry for you guys back there who can't find a real tri-tip.

Tri-Tip or not, if that tastes as good as it looks, I'd be all over that. Nice job!
