Default Kamado joe classic fire grate mod

Hi gang. I haven't had a chance to cook on my new kamado joe ( I know, I know ) but I have been reading that the fire grate can clog. Has anyone had this problem, and if so do u have any mod suggestions ? I saw that big green egg has a stainless grate replacement, but I wasn't sure if this would fit my new chompy.

Yeah I already did that mod. It never clogged on me, but I still did it because I had those issues with my medium egg. I dont have the Classic, but I did it with the BigJoe.

Weber fire grate from an 18.5" grill fits nearly perfect for the Big Joe. Yes some tiny pieces of lump will fall through. You can use 2 grates set perpendicular on one another and will taker care of that. But it's not necessary.

I've never had a problem with my Classic Joe, but you can use one of THESE . I also try to make to i have larger pieces of lump at the bottom and smaller pieces on top to help eliminate clogging.
