Default wood stove.....

for a fire box , I want to build an offset smoker and was thinking an old wood stove would be perfect , they are reasonably cheap on c/list , what do you guys think ?

I have seen two homemade smokers used at BBQ joints which used old wood stoves for the fire boxes. They worked great.
