Some of you seem to have better luck with them. I'm using mine with my plain ole kettle at the moment. Any tricks to keep the probes workin well?

Don't pinch the wires. I found it best to drill a hole and use a grommet to protect the wires as they go into the cooker and not pinch them in the lip.
Good luck...

Definitely be *very* careful with the wires, and do not submerge the probes in water past where the wire enters. Some have added a length of shrink wrap to the wire-probe joint. On my kettle, I removed a bit of metal in one spot on the edge of the lid so the wires do not get pinched.

Make sure the probes are fully seated in their respective recepticles.
That way, you won't have the wonky HHH readings. Be careful with the screws on the back of the battery compartment on the receiver. They are microscopic and can strip out very easily. I wish they had used better screws!

i clean probes with 409 and a papertowel then a very quick rinse and dry. they can short out so be careful getting them too wet.

Are you adding the waterproof glue or did the tube come with the glue in it? If you are adding glue, what kind did you use?

I'd be careful with the heat shrink tubing. I tried that and ended up with a gooey mess. It lasted maybe 2 cooks and then started to break down and melt.

I have a Maverick ET-732.
I dropped the receiver twice and the transmitter once. I got the receiver wet once. They still worked fine, not a problem. I have a probe grommet and never got either of the probes wet. My pit probe went bad after about 10 cooks and I had to buy another one.
