Look at it this way. You got it CHEAP! You piss that away in beer fairly quick for that cost.

Seriously though I guess I should air my intentions. I wanted to start gearing up to try my hand at comps next year. I have another cheap offset I was planning on selling in addition to this one. With that cash I was planning on buying a second wsm 22.5 and a cyberq. Yes I can manage my temps fine on my wsm now but would like the extra sleep from what I'm understanding. I was thinking $750 but after listening to you knuckleheads I am back to the internal struggle of keeping it or not. Guess I'll pick up some wood this weekend and give it a shot with a short rib cook.

Damn you guys!!!!
Well, I'll give you a different answer.

I am the type of guy who does NOT keep things he doesn't use. I'm the opposite of a packrat.

If I were to get a killer deal on a used pit, I would fix it up and sell it. I already have the pits that I use on a regular basis.

So, if you aren't going to use the thing, sell it, IMO. Cash in the bank is always useful.

I'm with caseydog. Sell it if you're not able to use it. I think anywhere from 800-1k is a fair asking price to start with.

Maybe cook on it a few times and see how you like it before you make a final decision?

Cash is king these days, so I would not derail your original plan. I would however, fire it up. Who knows you may like the product and want to keep it.

For initial comp rigs, the WSM's are hard to beat. Lightweight, relatively inexpensive and can be broken down for transport. The P&S, well ask your back...

Words of Caution - do not sell it to a neighbor on your street. His comments of it being the best cooker / investment EVER, will certainly increase your beer consumption.
