I read a thread on here ages ago about using a SS mesh strainer with the middle pushed up as a cold smoking device.
Yesterday, I finally picked one up from the supermarket (for the heady price of £2.75!), pushed the middle up, loaded it with some pretty coarse hickory shards / dust and lit it using a tealight. It worked fantastically! The Mrs. said that the cheddar I smoked was some of the best she had ever had :) So, to the original poster; Thank You! ![]() |

Cheers Dude. Yeah, I usually wrap the cheese in greaseproof paper, kitchen roll,then some clingfilm and finally keep it in a Tupperware box in the fridge for at least three days.....but, new toy and all that!!!
