A hybrid soup with pron.

I made a hybrid soup kind of a combination gumbo and Mexican soup with a little asian mixed in.

Fish, shrimp, crab, onions, carrots, red peppers, spinach, bok choy, chile de arbol, guajillo chiles, rice wine vinegar, roux, homemade stock, garlic.

I think that is all that was in it.

Here it is. Only thing that really takes any time is the roux and making the chile sauce to add to it.

You are correct I did have sausage in it also. I used turkey but kielbasa would have been my first choice.

Thanks I live in a Hispanic neighborhood and combine Mexican ingredients with Asian all the time.

I think they blend very well together.

Made this gumbo/soup/stew for dinner tonight. It got RAVES!!! Taking some to my parent's house tomorrow, too. I know they're going to love it as much as we did. Thanks, Jeff!!!

My mom can't do hot, so I made it without. Harvard and I just added red pepper flakes to ours, and I have a feeling my dad will do the same. I also crisped up some thinly sliced onions and diced potatoes in a tablespoon of butter. Then deglazed the pan with a little cognac, and added it all to the soup. Lip smackin' good.

Would you mind giving me a quick sequential breakdown of what you did when? Like, when do you add the veggies and chile sauce to the roux? Etc.

Sorry, I'm not well-versed in the world of soups or gumbos, but I really want to try this.
