The Android app is not compatible with all devices. It won't work on my Galaxy Tab 2.

i used mine this weekend and i think im going to return it after work tomorrow. I really wanted this thing to be great and i could really have overlooked how cheaply made the case is and how fragile and cheap the probes seem to be, BUT, i used it this weekend and it dropped signal and disconnected itself so much that the frustration really out-weighed the benefit. also, it claims to keep signal for 200 feet, but with the unit set up on my deck (in front of sliding doors) it would not keep signal about 25' away when i was in my living room (clear view of the sliders). Great unit in theory, but in practicality, it just doesnt' work well enough for me to keep it.

Can you pair more than one to your phone/tablet at the same time?

I don't think so. But you may be able to pair to an iPhone and another to an iPod.
I used my iPod for this cook.

I'd be all over this if it included an ambient probe. Why two meat probes? Maybe I am off, but it seems most people would want this to monitor temp of their meat and their grill before wanting to monitor a second piece of meat.

I use mine a lot...besides an occasional pairing issue when you replace the batteries it works great! The ambient probe has to be ordered separately and it occupies one of the ports on the unit. I use my iPhone and really have not had any problems. It can only be paired to one device at a time. The 200' signal limit is really pushing it, the best I have had is maybe 75' at best with a clear view of the smoker without any doors or walls in the way. All in all it is dead on for temp and a good buy overall. My Guru is not any better and it cost twice as much!

Can't you just lay one of the probes on the grate and use it for pit temp?

My understanding is that the food probes have a lower maximum temperature and might be damaged if used as an ambient probe. You also can't lay it on the grill, as the manufacturer states contact with the metal will damage the probes as well.

You wouldn't want it directly on the grate. I stick my probes thru a small potato. And yes you can use the second probe to monitor the pit temp.
