This is how we do "Sun Tea".

Take 3-4 family sized bags of Luzianne tea and put in a gallon size "Sun Tea" jar filled with water. Set the jar outside in the full sun for at least 4 hours.

Sun Tea does not get hot enough to kill bacteria.

I disagree and heres the science to prove it
SODIS - Safe drinking water in 6 hours

We make a half gallon at a time. We use at least 2-3 quarts for tea water. We heat the water to a boil, and then shut off the heat as soon as it boils. Then put your tea bags in. Wait at least an hour. Pour the tea into your pitcher, and add 1/2 to 3/4 cup of sugar, depending on your tastes. Top off the pitcher with cold water. Drink and enjoy.

IMHO Luzianne is the best for iced tea. 1 cup sugar per gallon.
